Richard Hoggarth, Scoutmaster

Meet Richard Hoggarth, a seasoned Project Engineering Manager with a rich and diverse career spanning more than 25 years at BAE Systems. Richard's journey extends beyond the professional realm, showcasing his commitment to community service and personal development through his involvement in the Scouts.

In 2017, Richard embarked on a meaningful adventure by joining the Scouts alongside his son. Quickly assuming a leadership role, he served as the Webelos Den Leader, where he dedicated himself to guiding and mentoring young scouts, fostering their growth and instilling values of leadership and teamwork.

Recognizing his leadership potential, Richard was appointed as an Assistant Scoutmaster in 2019, a role in which he continued to make a positive impact on the scouting community. By 2020, he further embraced the responsibilities of Scoutmaster, bringing his wealth of experience and passion for mentorship to the forefront, shaping the next generation of leaders.

Outside of his scouting commitments, Richard serves as a BSA Climbing Instructor, adding an adventurous dimension to his engagement with the scouting community. His dedication to imparting outdoor skills and fostering a love for exploration underscores his holistic approach to leadership and mentorship.

Professionally, Richard has excelled as a Project Engineering Manager at BAE Systems, amassing invaluable experience in Ethics, Safety, Export, Software, Aircraft Structures, Fleet Management, Aerodynamics, and both Subscale and Full-scale Testing. His quarter-century of contributions has been marked by a commitment to excellence and a keen understanding of the intricate facets of engineering within a high-stakes industry.

Richard Hoggarth's story is one of leadership, dedication, and community service, seamlessly blending a distinguished career in engineering with a passion for guiding and empowering the next generation. His impact is felt not only in the boardroom but also in the hearts and minds of those he has inspired within the scouting community.

Brian Cannell, Chartered Organization Representative

Brian has been a dynamic presence in Scouting for 14 years and currently excels as the Chartered Organization Representative for Troop 109, a role he's held for 6 years. In his professional life, he contributes significantly to the aerospace and defense industry, bringing a unique perspective to our Scouts.

Beyond Scouting, Brian is actively involved in the Aledo, TX community, where he has lived for a decade. Notably, he is currently coalescing the Aledo High School band chaperones, demonstrating his commitment to youth development and community engagement.

Brian's blend of Scouting experience, professional expertise, and dedication to community initiatives like the high school band makes him an invaluable leader and mentor in our troop.

Bill Poteet, Committee Chairman

Bill became a member of Troop 109 alongside his son in 2021 and assumed the role of committee chair in 2023.

With a strong commitment to community service, Bill has contributed his expertise to several non-profit advisory positions, dedicating years to supporting youth organizations in various communities. In his professional capacity, Bill specializes in corporate treasury and investments. He shares his life with his spouse of 18 years and calls Fort Worth, Texas, his home.
